Residents across Metro Vancouver and other parts of B.C. in Canada woke to the
sight of a thick haze in the sky Sunday morning as the province’s wildfire season continues to escalate.
The Coastal Fire Centre says the haze is a product of smoke from B.C.’s interior blowing out to the coast.
They
are warning residents to be extra cautious today as the wind is
bringing extremely dry air to the region, which increases the risk of
fire.
They also say residents should not report generalized haze
and ash to the fire centre, but should call in if they see any columns
of smoke.
Metro Vancouver says they are monitoring the situation,
but it is unlikely an air quality advisory will be issued based on
current readings. (credit: Jon Azpiri)
