Black Gold- The Bone Of Contentions

In African economy today, a lot of socio and economy instabilities have been linked to crude oil (exploitation, exploration and production) otherwise known as 'black gold'. In most countries, Government are in sole control of crude oil production and marketing raking about 90% of GNI (Gross National Income). Inappropriate distribution of crude resource revenues in some of these countries have led to uprising in the form of militancy, illegal pressure groups, high level criticisms. And the impacts are seen as crude pipeline vandalism, community clashes, kidnappings, environmental pollution.
Countries blessed with these natural endowment are at BONE OF CONTENTION with the masses and sometimes have threatened or caused national break up. Major geographical groups tend to pull off from a main entity (e.g a country) once they perceived marginalization that stems from epileptic development and neglect from the Government.
Black Gold also hinders effective cultural integration especially in multi-lingual countries (e.g Nigeria). Different cultural groups, different languages suppose to harmonize and live in PEACE and UNITY. In the long run, certain perceived factors that loomed from mismanagement of crude oil funds have rather led to disunity, prejudice and disintegration between and within cultural groups in a defined geographical entity.
